Chiropractic is a healing modality that uses adjustments (otherwise known as manipulations) to improve the function of joints in the body. While it is most commonly known for treating the spine, chiropractors are trained to assess and treat every joint, bone and muscle in the body. At Sol Chiropractic & Wellbeing we assess and treat the body as a whole. Pain and injury are frequently caused by functional issues that are far away from where it actually hurts. While we also treat the area that is causing you pain right now, we believe it is important to improve your overall function so that you don’t keep experiencing the same problems over and over again.
We believe that musculoskeletal and spinal health is important to the health of the rest of the body. Your spine houses nerves that send signals to and from organs, muscles and joints and which control everything from digestion to healing to muscle movement. If your spine moves and functions well, it reduces stress on the body meaning your body can take care of all of its other functions with greater ease. Chiropractors use a range of gentle adjustment techniques ranging from gentle joint mobilisation techniques to slightly stronger manual adjustments. Here at Sol Chiropractic we alter every treatment to suit a patient‘s individual needs, so if you have any particular preferences please let us know.
At your first appointment you can expect to be taken through a thorough history which will cover questions about your current complaint as well as your past health history. We will also conduct a physical exam which will involve checking your posture, movement, muscle strength and any other necessary testing. This will help us to figure out what course of action is best for you. If chiropractic treatment is a suitable and you are agreeable to it, we will begin treatment on your first visit.
